Intimate Luncheon Wedding at The Rectory on Princess Street

The Rectory on Princess Street is deep rooted in Old Town Alexandria’s history. It’s an enchanting historic building soaked in sunlight and charm. The moment I set foot in it’s beautiful Secret Garden courtyard my creative mind went to work. The space was calling out for an intimate garden-luncheon wedding.

The original rectory for Christ Church, this 235 year old building has all the classic features you look for in

historic homes. There’s a winding grand-staircase, tons of windows for natural light, beautiful architecture, brick work, a balcony, and amazing garden with trees strong with character. The photo opportunities are endless.

With such a strong tie to the history of Alexandria, I knew I needed to compile a team of local vendors to help tell its story. Can you just imagine a gorgeous ceremony at Christ Church then taking the short walk through the instantly recognizable streets of Old Town to enjoy a fabulous meal in the garden courtyard of this stunning venue? Our team certainly could and we were all so excited to bring such a vision to life.

The Rectory on Princess Street owners Neeta Helms and Johan van Zyl, purchased the property in 2014 to house their classical music touring concert company. They also heard the building beckoning to be the setting of stunning weddings and events. With musical tours on hold for the time being, it was time to open the space and fulfill their dreams of hosting weddings. They also have close connections with some of the world’s finest orchestras. For an additional fee, you can have quality musicians play at your wedding!

Our afternoon spent styling and photographing this spectacular space was filled with music, laughter, and sunlight. We didn’t want it to end! The photo opportunities were plentiful, the garden was beautiful, the music peaceful, the home inviting, the owner humorous and charming, the vendors were thrilled and honored to become part of this hidden gem.

This venue has so much to offer, we used some of the fruit from the magnificent kumquat tree to add to this beautiful cake display.

One of my favorite features at The Rectory on Princess Street is this antique bathtub. I just knew I wanted to do something fun with it, so we had the bride climb in! Imagine filling this beauty with ice for a wonderful bottle display at your wedding.
