Bringing The Couple Into The Wedding

The reason I named my company Perfectly Yours - besides the fact I will make your event perfect- is because each wedding should be unique. I wanted to help couples think of ways to make this day, celebrating them, truly about them.

Sometimes I feel that in the day of Pinterest and Instagram we tend to copy what we see. It isn't because we can't come up with our own ideas, but because it's beautiful and classy, and we want our weddings to look like that! I encourage you to sprinkle in a little you -and your significant other - in there with those beautiful and classic elements.

This can also help tell the unique story of the couple to guests who may not known it. Guests like your cousin's new boyfriend or the ones that only know half of the couple.

Beside bringing in some framed photos of your lives before and with each other (which I love), here are a few ways to bring in the elements of you.

There are staples just about every wedding has to have such as a card box, guest book, seating chart, place cards, table numbers, cake topper, cake knife and server. These are the main items that make up your theme, not just the colors.

Your theme can be a subtle nod to you as a couple. Love to travel? Tie in your favorite destinations with decorations like a London Phone Booth holding flowers as centerpieces and Eiffel Tower place card holders.

If you love music, find a record of the song for your first dance and guests can sign it for your guest book.

Table numbers are a great way to draw in a little "you." If you went to college together, you can use the names of building on campus. Or popular sites around the town. Maybe you love theater, name the tables after plays or musicals.

I once worked with a couple who actually met in chemistry class. It was such a cute and lovely story, we talked about how to tie that in by making the seating chart look like the Periodic Table of Elements.

Finding ways to bring the couple into the reception is my favorite part of wedding planning.

What's the most "unique to the couple" thing you've ever seen at a wedding?
